Moomoo market strategist Jessica Amir recently made an appearance on the Ausbiz show 'The open', to discuss the latest market developments. She covered hot topics such as the reasons behind the global stock market sell-off, and the potential for a Federal Reserve rate cut. On the company front, Jessica reviewed earnings results from Arcadium Lithium (ASX: LTM), Coronado Global (ASX: CRN), Cettire (ASX: CTT), Freelancer(ASX: FLN), and Vista Group (ASX: VGL).

Jessica noted that the recent sell-off seen in markets was driven by weak U.S. economic data, disappointing earnings results, the unwinding of yen-funded trades, plus rising tensions in the Middle East.

Regarding benchmark rates, traders are now pricing in a 92% probability that the Fed will cut its benchmark rate by 50 basis points in September, up from an 11% chance seen last week.

Globally, concerns about US economic weakness have driven the yen to a seven-month high, causing the U.S. dollar to fall by about 2%. The Australian stock market is expected to continue its recent sharp sell-off, with ASX futures down 0.8%. Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India is set to announce its policy decision, with expectations for rates to remain unchanged.
