The U.S. Department of Commerce announced that it planned to curb export of advanced AI chips to China, to restrict China's access to advanced semiconductors to promote its artificial intelligence and military development. Countries subject to this restriction also include Iran and Russia.

Nvidia said it will comply with the regulations and does not expect the new rules to have "a near-term meaningful impact on its financial results." $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ closed down more than 4% on Tuesday. $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ fell more than 1% and $Intel (INTC.US)$ closed down about 1.4%.
