I wouldn't say that value investing or growth investing are dead. Generally speaking in a bear market most equities will lose value. Even the value companies that supposedly hold their value in turbulent times. If you are speaking of value or growth investing in tech companies, which is what most consider to be growth companies, then obviously growth, value, and just about any other investment strategy is surely dead. But there is always a rally somewhere in the market. Y...

The growth type is capable of riding the tide. The decision will be based on the specific needs and financial goals. Growth investing is a strategy that seeks out stocks whose underlying companies are expected to grow their sales and profits at a rapid pace and generate above-average returns. Growth investors are typically willing to pay a premium for shares of companies that have the potential to significantly outperform in the future. Growth investing, on the other hand, has the potential t...

Will value investors make a comeback? Which stocks or ETFs do you think will ride the next tide?
Value stocks are publicly traded companies trading for relatively cheap valuations relative to their earnings and long-term growth potential. In time of economic downturn, I think value stocks will make a comeback. The question is which one will comeback faster and survive the current macro conditions - inflation, risk of recession, negative sentiment towards strong dollar, FED rate hike etc.

$AT&T (T.US)$Hey Boys and Girls let me tell you the story about Timmy and the Value Trap.
You see Timmy, read books about value investing, and he learned about Old Man Buffett, and how he needed to buy established companies selling at low multiples and this was great place to invest.
So he learned about Verizon and ATT, the value investors told him these are great stocks, established companies that sell services that millions of people use everyday, why they are so cheap its a great investment come place your money. Why look even Old Man Buffett owns Verizon.
Timmy did, he placed his hard earned dollars into the black holes of incompetence and mediocrity that is AT&T and Verizon. And after many years Timmy came back to find that his dollars instead of growing into a mighty oak of wealth had disappeared like magic.
And that is the lesson of value traps getting a good deal on a shitty business, doesn't change the fact that you still own a shitty business.
Since 2013 $Verizon (VZ.US)$has returned annualized 2.6%, $AT&T (T.US)$6%, while $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ averaged 16%
Next time you think of trying to value invest, think of the children.

Which stocks or ETFs do u think will ride the next wave?
I think $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ should be able to as even Warren Buffett also say to invest in it if u are someone who don't know how to invest. Just DCA on it & u should be able to make a comeback over decades wi...

Good day traders!
We're looking at a potential sell setup for $Hang Seng Index (800000.HK)$
And this is why:
1.) On the daily chart, the price is on a strong bearish trend. Adding confluence to this, the price is under the Ichimoku cloud, indicating a bearish market.
2.) There may be some opportunities for a sell entry at the 18195.09 level, where there is a market gap and where the previous low was.
3.) Stop loss will be placed at 20173.02, slightly above...

Determining the value of a stock has been more difficult in 2022, as the fluctuation in interest rates and inflation has had an outsized effect of the valuation of all companies. The individual performance and business outlook for a single stock has mattered less to its value. That doesn’t mean value investing is dead though.

Why banks earnings matter?
The earnings results of Wall Street banks usually provide a big picture of the U.S. economic outlook, which is seen as a barometer of the financial health of the economy, consumers and companies.
The country's largest banks used their quarterly reports to reassure investors of their financial health, along with mixed signs of economic strength from their commercial and consumer sectors.

W Chiang : Generally speaking value investing isn't dead but just different people receive the value differently.
SpyderCall OP W Chiang : agreed
W Chiang SpyderCall OP : perhaps long term and short term also have difference. The valuation can be complex and also related to the personal goal and definition
jigsaw : I don't understand the methods and cyclical nature of value investing. It's not about putting it there to die and wait. There is a specific set of methods and methods, and you need to know when to take profits
Dons Son : Thanks Spyder
