If you are the "buy and hold" type of investor, you would spend time in the market and wait for prices to recover. But is it better than timing the market?

Bottom line
As retail investors, the probability of

Lol, how I wish I could time the market, then I would be able to retire and make daily trades with profits each time. There is a belief that time in market in the mid/long term will have a higher probability of gaining reasonable profit to beat inflation. Congratulate those that has the knowledge and skill to be able to time the market to make profitable trades.
Hoping all to huat whichever what the believe in.

my professional broker had me stay in the market in 2008 while his recommended portfolio sank to under 40% of its retirement value. Each one is valuable. Each one has a place. To time the market, you got to be a real shark. Time in the market doesn't make you n check the platform as much. Due diligence is the best though, in all scenarios. Knowing what you hold in both situations is key.
