Courage is the ability to do something that frightens us. However, there are good courage and there are bad courage.
Bad courage is when we have bravery to do things that's detrimental to ourselves or others, such as gambling in the market with leverage, on stocks that we don't know, with money that with don't have. Let's avoid being such a degenerate.

how do you grow the courage to invest in a bear market?
if you have the "conviction" that a company is doing well (business is growing, customers are growing, earnings are growing), then the bear market is a good time to buy more shares of the company at a cheaper price.
this is what happens when the potato chips you like goes on sale at the supermarket. whether they have excess inventory and are nearing expiry or they are running a promotion does not bother you, you just loa...

How do you grow the courage to invest in a bear market?
If don't invest and leave your money in saving account, you'll still lose to inflation. Hence my investment goal is don't lose money, at least invest to reduce the impact of inflation. Here are some suggestions on how to invest in a bear market:
1. High interest fixed deposit (FD).
Based on Jan 2023 chart, best interest rate is 4.2% pa. Minimum sum is SGD 10k hold for 12 months. Each bank has their own T&C, chec...

Stock prices are voting machine in the short run and weighing machine in the long run.
why do I say that? Well we all know that good companies' share price will go up in the long run even in face of volatility in the short term. The question is how can we choose the right company with good sales and support team coupled with good research and development team who keeps the innovative products and services coming on stream constantly.
We should also avoid overpaying as this is a recipe...

4 The market is like a voting machine in the short term but like a weighing machine in the long term.
Prices can fluctuate wildly based on emotion, but the true value of a business will show over the years (whether good or bad).
5 The intelligent investor's primary goal is to not lose money – and that's not easy.
If you lose 95% of your money, you have to make a 1900% profit just to get back to square one!
6 Buying even the best stock only makes sense at the right price.
Always ask "How much?"...

Investment is viewed by many, including myself as a way to gain financial freedom. But is this really the case?
Investment and or trading has an approach to follow to make sure one is not confusing gambling with investment or trading. Ultimately, stock is a tool for us to use. How we use it will determine whether it is investment or is it gambling...

7 Diversify.
Invest in bonds, stocks, and other assets so that your fortunes are not tied to a single bet.
8 Always look for a margin of safety.
Buy at a price where even if your calculations are off by a little, you have room to be wrong and still make money.
9 Understand your style and commit to it.
You can either be a passive investor who minimizes stress and makes good returns, or you can be an active investor who spends all your energy on finding great bargains. There is no middle ground...

When it comes to investing in a bear market, where there is a lot of fear but a good time to buy, there are many ways in which an investor could develop the courage to take advantage of the opportunity.
1. Dollar Cost Averaging- If you are uncertain because you see constant reds in the market, i suggest investing not all but some of your money you’re comfortable with into what you think is the new “low.” If that isn’t the case, then you ...
