What is VWAP?
The Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) is a technical indicator that measures the average price of a security based on both the price and volume of trades over a specified period.

Charting software is used when wanting the calculations and indicators on price movement. VWAP will provide a running total throughout the day. Thus, the final value of the day is the volume-weighted average price for the day.
MVWAP will provide an average of the number of VWAP calculations to analyze. This means there is no final value for MVWAP, as it can run fluidly from one day to the next, providing an average of the VWAP value over time. This makes the MVWAP much more customi...

$Apple (AAPL.US)$
VWAP: On its own seems clear above the line is supportive of a bullish trend, while below its shows a bearish trend. However it does not clearly show when it turns bearish and vice versa.
Lets see if other indicators will help.

The interesting thing about VWAP is it doesn't change across all minutes chart time frames and is the only indicator that able to do that. Hence, the Challenge's description "Golden" (but it can be misleading as no indicator is the "crack the code"). VWAP cannot be seen in daily chart as it merged within the day candles and hence no use for non intraday trading. As with all moving averages; they are l...

With VWAP it is important not just to look a whether the current price is above or below it, but what the slope of the VWAP line is. The slope provide a good indicator of momentum. Remember VWAP is based on historical data and is backward looking. The VWAP can also be combined with moving averages to create trading signals when the two lines cross. Bollinger Bands are another indicator that can be combined with VWAP. When actual prices are trading outside of the bands it is an indicator ...
