10-20 billion Tesla Bots: 1 billion people may be made jobless
Singapore-based Leo KoGuan, who has invested US$3.5 billion (22 million shares) to be the 3rd-largest individual shareholder of Tesla said he views the electric carmaker more as a cutting-edge software company and believes its humanoid robot will be a force to be reckoned with.
Mr KoGuan said its robot – known as Tesla Bot or Optimus – is under-rated as it is still not quite yet a working prototype but stressed it could potentially replace human labour in the future. The demand is expected to be as high as 10 to 20 billion units.
"Just capturing 10 per cent to 20 per cent of the global labour market will be a humongous replacement by Tesla Bot," said the Indonesian-born American.
There are only 5 Tesla Optimus prototypes now, or early concept samples, performing simple tasks and walking steadily around the office. Can Tesla ramp up capacity and produce 10-20 billion humanoids? Is it possible?
There are only 8 billions of humans in the world. This means that there will be 2.5 humanoids for every human. Do we want 20 billion humanoids to take over hundreds of millions or 1 billion of our jobs? Leaving these people jobless and struggling to survive.
What if some of the humanoids go rogue and turn against humans. That's the risk of AI.
On the surface, 10 to 20 billion humanoids will be a fat profit for Tesla. But you need to dig deeper and consider the dangers. 1 billion people losing their jobs and the threat of humanoids gone rogue. Do you want that to happen?

bullrider_21 OP : Do you think that the 20 billion humanoids are just doing tasks not done by humans? Impossible. At the start, the Tesla Bots will replace people doing menial jobs which can be automated. With 20 billion humanoids, they will replace more advanced jobs done by humans. Not just blue collar jobs, but also white collar jobs. With so many humanoids, of course many people are going to lose their jobs.
