How to do fundamental analysis on moomoo?
Too many of us are looking for clever investment strategies when the most direct route is right under our nose. Paying attention to the fundamentals is basic to outperforming the market, yet often overlooked.
Fundamentals include the basic qualitative and quantitative information that contributes to the financial or economic well-being and the subsequent financial valuation of a security. Analysts and investors examine these fundamentals to develop an estimate as to whether the underlying asset is considered a worthwhile investment, and if there is fair valuation in the market.
Moomoo offers comprehensive, accurate and timely fundamentals data to carry out your own research in confidence.
1. How can I find it on moomoo?
1) IOS & Android
A stock's quote page -> Analysis tab
2) Windows & Mac
a) A stock's quote page -> Press F10
b) A stock's quote page -> Analysis Tab
Note: The F10 window only offers detailed information regarding company's background & Financial Analysis.
2. How to use it?
Here we take APP version as example. There are 3 parts under the Analysis tab which provide different fundamentals information.
Summary:Incl. Company profile, Industry, Related Concepts, Executives Profile, Equity Structure, Dividend Payout and Share Pepurchase History
Financials:Incl. Revenue Segments, Financial Statements( I/S, CFS, B/S)
Interpretation:Incl. Broker's Shareholding, Company Valuation, Morphological Interpretation, Analyst's Rating, Target Price, etc.
a) Summary
This part will quickly walk you through company profile information. You can get an overview of the target company's business, management, equity structure, etc. It would be a good starting point for your research.
b) Financials
When you have the basic understanding of a company's background, you would probably be interested in getting some insights about its operating track records.
Financials tab gives you an overview of the company's financial performance. You can check out its revenue segmentation by business, by product, or by region (Switch mode using the tab on the top, and some stocks do not have the product segmentation).
Furthermore, you can get visualized financial statement data, and calculated financial ratios which give you an in-depth understanding of the company's past performance. The charts of financial statements give you an overview. You can also switch modes between Charts and Numbers by tapping the icons on the top of this section.
If you would like to further know $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ growth, profitability and leverage level, simply tab More Details and check out the Key indicators tab which offers ratios like Revenue Growth Rate, ROE and Debt/Asset Ratio.
c) Interpretation
This part offers you comprehensive information regarding the price performance, technical analysis and market consensus of a specific stock.
For example, If you would like to know the valuation of Telsa (Ticker: $TSLA), you can check out the Company Valuation section and find out some ratios such as P/E and P/S to support your research.
However, knowing a P/E ratio isn't enough for you to figure out whether Tesla is undervalued or not. Therefore, you can simply tab More Details on the top right corner and check out the Valuation Distribution. By using the industry average PE as a benchmark, you can analyze Tesla's relative valuation level and might trade on this information.
In particular, Valuation Comparison would be a useful tool if you would like to customize your own Comps Table. Let's say you would like to compare Tesla with General Motors. Switch to Valuation Comparision and you will see a table, simply tap the " + " icon in the top cell and add "General Motors", then you will get a fresh table with Tesla and GM's PE, Mkt Cap, etc. Delete a stock by tapping the " x " in the top cell (The Table supports maximum 5 stocks).
If you still find fundamentai analysis too tedious? Don't worry! Check out the Analyst Rating & Target Price part which offer you some institutional investors' ratings and valuation of your target.
But remember, these contents are intended to be used and must be used for informational purpose only. It's very important to do your own analysis before making any investment decisions.
Tips: Sections with a share button on the top right corner means you can tap the button to generate a screenshot of the information to share in moo community or with your friends via other apps.
So this is the basic intro to the Analysis page. How much help you can get from it when doing market research? We will leave it to you to discover, and welcome to share us your using skills or advices.
See you next time!
