Share structure
I really want to stress that anyone who is looking into intelligent investing, one of the first things you should pay attention to is share structure
one reason i love this app is the amount of details in share structure. Not many brokers display so much information
Google the following terms and research in depth:
1. outstanding shares
2. restricted shares
3. float shares
a very simple but not always correct formula is:
outstanding = float + restricted
I say not always correct because when you go down the research hole, you encounter preferred shares, then class A, class B and it gets more detailed. In short, Wall Street has so many ways to dilute and trick shareholders and retail investors eapecially
pay attention to who has lowest float - they are the ones who run hard and crash hard.
to me low float is less than 20 million. others put it at less than 40 million but that is a stretch. ultra low float is less than 10 million or even 5 million. That’s why tickers like $Enveric Biosciences(ENVB.US$ or $Cyclo Therapeutics(CYTH.US$ swing real big.
when to enter low float stocks. Any new ticker, check the float and go look at news and scan for last 3 months and you will notice some offering with warrants. if the stock price is below warrant and/or offering price... I buy it. I bought $CNS Pharmaceuticals(CNSP.US$ with the same strategy. offering at 2 and warrants at 2.2 and stock in below 2 in the last 2 weeks and I added it. This means pump will come to satisfy the warrant holders and private institutions who bought the offering
companies like $Zomedica(ZOM.US$ and $Ampio Pharmaceuticals(AMPE.US$ have floats that are too high - they will move but these crooks are more likely to break your heart than give you a profit. and unfortunately too many people buy these tickers because they are cheap. Cheap is not always good. I try to avoid tickers below 1 unless it is too compelling
high float means it needs tremendous volume to move. it means like getting a penske truck to move godzilla’s apartment. you need a hundred trucks
