Mcsnacks H Tupack OP : On top of trying to obtain direct profits from controlling the share price, and since shorts know more about the direction of the share price, shorts are able to make more profits from selling and buying options. I would have to believe these option profits could run into the millions of dollars too.
Mcsnacks H Tupack OP : now the shorts believe they will have a better opportunity to buy to cover their shorts at a lower price as well as they will have more time to do so. At least that's what the shorts hope for.

cockNTail : the bad part about a put is unless there is catastrophic news. most puts only come close to the bottom price. if I'm trading a put im counting on the higher lows not lower lows. and higher highs. even with a lot of air on that PUT its not as quick as that short and the Greeks don't play nice.
Mcsnacks H Tupack OP cockNTail : But you can tell it’s being done because they short it Monday. Then at the close of everyday after that there will be big buy orders before close. Because they are buying bulk shares at market close so when the price goes up they can fix that in the aftermarket by just selling a few of those they just bought because after market selling causes the price to drop 10x as much as it would during market hours. And then they do it premarket. Somebody is about to make a lot of money.

Mcsnacks H Tupack OP cockNTail : They work it from both ways. Drive the price down by shorting. Buy those shares cheap. Then when they cover long and the price goes up they sell those cheap shares they just bought from driving the price down
