suspension is actually positive

$C6L.SG$ I actually think the suspension of any flights at the moment is a positive for SIA because any ongoing flights during this period is probably with very low load factors and thus losing more money than just having the planes parked. The real money will come with the travel bubbles in a matter of time.

  • Fist of Fury : not really true. I am not saying that SIA is doing this but for example if there is only 50 people allowed to enter the particular country a day and bookings are mostly filled. what is stopping SIA from charging a premium on their seats. instead of 50 economy seats, it could be 30 business seats and 20 economy seats.

  • fundamentalt OP : you might be right, but in my view, low demand is stopping SIA from charging a premium sufficient enough to overcome the low load factors. they might be able to charge some premium compared to normal times, but with a high break even load factor for airlines in general, I do not think they will be able to price tickets high enough to profit from any of these flights because people not be willing to pay beyond an insanely ticket price to cover all the empty seats.
