disassembly line : essentially, yes. each (options) contract is 100 shares in either direction, put or call. the part where a lot of people get cornered, for lack of a better word, is exercising an option. this also depends on which side of the contract youre on, as well
disassembly line : also a small sidenote ive seen excise / exercise used interchangably. both mean the same.
chris from queens OP : so with a call that's for it to go up putbis to go down... now say I sign a contract for a call for a hundred shares I'm getting it at a certain price type deal saying like like 46 100 shares are you getting a little cheaper obviously or something, you you can exercise to buy it can you buy it right away and also how long does it cost to put order? thanks disassembly line you are definitely one of the top people in this group as well I appreciate you taking time to explain to me because I just been buying shares with cash so they're my shares..lol. end of next week I wanna bury them! also did they cover the borrowed shorts that expired today?
Coffee Drip : I commented.. but deleted it because I was on my phone and my phone likes words better than others. So I'm not sure how much you know about option trading.. Puts are bets the decline of the stock.. calls are betting the increase oif the stock. Each unit is 100 shares . You have to use settled cash. You also can only trade options intraday.
People use option trading for several reasons. For me I have to contracts on GSAT. 1st one expires 6/18 my strike price is 1.50 I paid a premium of 0.14 a unit. so 14.00 total. before its expiration date I can decide to sell that contract back. or exe the contract and then I will have 100 shares at .14 a share.
Moomoo has a course on options. Also youtube treys ytades. he has a couple in there.
