Why do people say it’s good for long term but I can only see it oscillate?
$STI ETF (ES3.SG)$ Hi guys. New to investment here. Why people keep saying that this index fund is a good investment for long term but when i look at its long-term curve, i can only see it oscillate?
For example, here’s its behavior since 2008.

Looks like it’s always around S$3.0 per share? How do you make money in long term if it’s price doesn’t grow? Did I miss anything? What’s the strategy to invest on index fund? Thanks for your help!

SpellCasting : People buy it with monthly regular purchase, long term average the price, and it give dividends.

102246756 : In this day and age, even 3 years is too long. If u are skilled with trading like some here, u wouldn't bother with dividends that pay the most twice a year on some stocks but the amount can hardly buffer your loss when the price goes down by even 1 bid after deduction of trading fees !
KYMO : long term is 10yeats
