China's antitrust agency blocked Tencent's plan to merge two major domestic live streaming platforms, Huya and Betta. Tencent recently withdrew the merger application for anti-monopoly review and indicated to the State Administration of Market Supervision that it was unable to complete the resubmission of the merger review within 180 days of the initial submission of the application. Tencent failed to come up with a solution to meet regulatory requirements for Tencent to give up exclusive content.
