OldNormanBates OP fionaa : I always try to tell people to buy a stock that they know a lot about. One that you know the name from years of seeing product that you like, and are familiar about. Find one that you know has been making money, that is working also for community growth, sustainability, climate change, or something you are passionate about. Is it a company with car that you love, a camera, a drug that is making headway in cancer reduction. Stocks like these. My first stock I think was either AMD because I was really technical and loved the computer chips, or F (Ford Motors), because I loved their cars. Both of those were also definitely making money at the time, and still are. I can't just pick one out of the air for you, it's really something you should do your self. Find some stock you're passionate about when you hear their name.
