Trend is your friend. Buy when you think it is cheap, it can go cheaper. Sell when you think it is expensive it can go higher to be more expensive.
if you are a short term buyer 1mth -3mth, learn to look at the trend of the moving averages. A good point to start with will be look at the SMA of 20day/ 50 day against 100 day chart.
if you are a long term buyer, do the top down approach. look at the macro economy chart eg the index chart eg S&P then the industry chart, then your stock. potential buying point can be when the stock undergoes some temporary negative news or when it is trading at a lower value than its intrinsic value.
To sell, generally i learn that it is good to take profits gradually once it hits 15%, and im usually out at 25% totally out of the stock.
For longer term holders, it will be prudent to do monthly review or at least quarterly of your stock to detect any changes in sentiment. Enjoy the dividend yield if it does, if not be careful of your capital. However, dont sweat about a temporary dip - your time in the market is more important than timing the market.
May the huat factor be with you! 🎉
