$Apple(AAPL.US)$ has an amazing brand. They can slap their brand on anything and people will buy them. Also once an apple user forever an apple user.
$Microsoft(MSFT.US)$ has more diversity in revenue streams. In fact they are the most diverse of the big 5 tech companies in terms of revenue stream.
I think both are excellent companies, however i think the superior one is Microsoft mainly because I think software is going to be increasingly important in the future, while I like apple I think Microsoft has the best long term prospects. But I recommend holding both in a portfolio cause they both are great.
