How to trade earning events?
It is commonly assumed that if a company reports good earnings, its share price will rise after the announcement. This assumption is sometimes true, but it's not guaranteed because stock movements depend on many other factors, such as the company's future prospects. Take a look $Snap Inc (SNAP.US)$ , its third-quarter earnings were better than expected. So if someone uses their financial reports to trade, they will go long on this stock $Snap Inc (SNAP.US)$Now it's going to be a huge loss. The only guarantee of a profitable event is that the implied volatility of the stock will decrease after the announcement. That's why I only use options to trade any profitable event.
