There are many lingos out there but I would like to share two in particular because I feel the meaning behind them is essentially what makes you profit or lose from the market.
No. 1) DYODD
Do your own due diligence. Always. To summarise this, it means never copy or act on an investment idea based on hearsay without studying the company first.
No. 2) FOMO.
Fear of missing out. Many investors, new and veteran alike, are guilty of this. Myself included.
Very often this leads to a painful loss. I myself have suffered a 5 figure loss because of this.
In short, do not chase a stock just because many are doing it. Study the company fundamentals first which essentially is related to lingo No. 1.
Of course there are many other lingos which I've learned in recent times such as diamond hand, paper hand, ape, hodl, stonk, etc.
I think these are driven by the redditors and WSB people. Sometimes when you think about it, it is quite funny. These people are so innovative and creative.
