Halloween Memory

let me first say hello everyone. my Halloween tale is set in 1987. I was about 10. I had recently moved from a small town in SOUTH LA to Sacramento CA. we may have been in Cali a few months when I was taken by the state. everyone is put straight into a group home without any contact what so ever with family or friends for 8 wks it's call an adjustment period. after weeks of being there crying, lost, scared...I mean after all this group home had 3k more kids than the entire population of the town i came from. sense we has moved away from our family we hadn't celebrated anything. we couldn't afford to. it was Halloween and I was always being picked up and getting grounded and NEVER was allowed on any outings. October 31st came and all the other kids were dressed and heard out to do what I hadn't done n so long! trick or treating! I was devastated I couldn't go. all of a sudden my name came across the loudspeaker and they told me to bring a sweater. that meant I was leaving for some reason. I was so excited I ran to the front where a man I didn't know was waiting on me. I freaked out about not going with strangers until he pulled out his credentials. he was my DCFS worker. he was bringing me to dinner and movie. can u guess the movie? HALLOWEEN 5!! I was so excited I literally hit my knees and started balling!! I was so grateful. he had called to get my size earlier that day for a costume. they told him I was punished. so, he came to get me ... that's right they couldn't for any reason tell my worker he couldn't take me because I was punished. we first went to get a small costume nothing that was a big deal because as I told my worker, he thought about me, he took time out of his off time to make one little girl out of 6k kids n the group home and 3.5k kids that were his cases! I will never forget thwt Halloween as long as I live. God bless those of u who do this work and save kids lives God bless u!
