Former Google CEO sounds skeptical that Facebook will build the metaverse
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt sounded skeptical on Tuesday that Meta, formerly known as Facebook, will succeed at building the metaverse.
Schmidt reacted to the news that $Meta Platforms (FB.US)$ would shift its focus to build the metaverse, a virtual world where you can socialize, work and play.
Schmidt is not the only one who remains skeptical about Facebook. A former Facebook executive also said wouldn't trust Zuckerberg in metaverse.

iSpyderTrader : Being in Metaverse you are just giving up more date and rights to your humanity. Every company will tell you they don't collect or use any data you have provided. But that is not true. How many people actually read the EULA. If you did, then you would not be using the services. But if you are then you just gave up rights. Same with moomoo app, I gave up some right and data collection so I can use the app. But every move inside the app is being tracked and analyzed. Same thing will happen in Metaverse, just that you will be living in a fake work. I don't think I would like to be part of that. Watch "Ready Player One" and then decide for yourself. This is my stand point and I don't trust it.
71822139 : I have stopped using Facebook more than 10 years ago. People will eventually realize how meaningful their lives are when they touch the real things: soil, wood, smile, chat in person. People use FB mostly because of the stress and inequalities our society is creating.
I probably will never use FB in the future.

71261704 : Metaverse will happen regardless who initiates it. Its evolution, look at where we stand now in technology from where we started 25 years ago. Facebook maybe trying to fix a brand from major issues but honestly what great company never had any set backs. Through failure there is success...I want in on that stock
