$Apple(AAPL.US$ A lot of people in this discussion board talking about regretting selling stocks. One maneuver I frequently make when I feel a stock is doing really well, but perhaps either becoming too large of a percentage for my portofolio -or- I feel the stock might be way over valued, I’ll just sell a portion of the stock I own (maybe 25%, 50%, 75%, etc.). Then, if the stock really takes off (again), I’ll still get a great return and I’ll avoid the fear of missing out. Alternatively, if it dumps, I won’t be losing nearly as much.
Not an uncommon strategy, but just wanted to remind some folks! I did this today with AAPL. I think I maybe sold like 10% of my shares.

Teddy Willson : This is the one comment in this board that doesn't reek of WSB.
James Browny : Yep. Just sold off 20% of my AMZN a week or two ago because it had come to be 30% of my portfolio. Still believed in the company but that's just too overweighted. Even though I missed out on some more gains, I don't feel bad about that sale because I still believe it was the smart move, and it's already headed towards being 30% of my portfolio again.
Stitch-fu James Browny : Having to keep rebalancing because one of your holdings is over performing is the best/worst problem to have.
Z9Gwqc14JU Stitch-fu : I'm fairly new to this...but isn't another option to just continue investing into your underweighted stocks to build them up to the weight you want them at, rather than selling the one doing really well?
ouySFiuuNu : Alternatively, you can sell some covered calls on those overheated positions to either reduce exposure or capture the option premium.
IWsnAFZDHM : I made this rule to myself as well about a week ago when I sold my CGC :(
Thanks for the validation.
rvsESOg2h3 : Smart!
I'm, total at least for my portfolio, up nearly 25% but I'm afraid of selling anything because I really like my portfolio.
Ft7foG07XE : Selling half of a position that has doubled is a good idea, but greed gets in the way.
I prefer to place a wide stop-limit or trailing stop when things get uncomfortably good.
Machiavellis3rdEye Teddy Willson : I know right? I screenshot all my user reports now so if MooMoo starts giving us reach arounds, instead of taking out that trash, imma be all over it, Bet.
We can’t become like those other apps And WSB - totally infested with disgusting and triggering hired Guns.
Master Corgi : What if the stock is first in first out lol
