The mRNA sequence was selected exclusively by Moderna scientists using Moderna’s technology and without input of NIAID scientists, who were not even aware of the mRNA sequence until after the patent application had already been filed. Therefore, only our scientists can be listed as the inventors on these claims.
Odd that this news summary ignored Moderna's claim that the sequence was made before NIAID was even aware of the sequence. I think that claim is an important part of the news even if it does not affect the media agenda. Good job to Reuters for including this claim.
