$Meta Platforms (FB.US)$ No one really knows what will be the metaverse..#facts. Ive tried to research (articles, podcasts, etc) and there isn’t a consistent view on metaverse. This “metaverse” thing will take time to take shape as an investment thesis. See 3D printing, Cannabis, EV, internet 1.0, 5G, etc. In each case it took time to take shape. And there were some winners that weren’t even on anyone’s radar.
Some of these companies are good investments regardless of metaverse.

  • Handy_ : Maybe I'll know in five years[undefined]

  • Aaron_Kelly : That's the beauty of this latest buzzword. It can be anything to anyone, and gives analysts an easy justification to pump up just about any stock. It's nonsense.
The metaverse is just a catch-all term to describe VR lol. We've been building this so-called metaverse for like 15 years now. Anyone hear of Second Life? lol. This is really some silly trash for retail investors to feel smart about.

  • Harper lee Aaron_Kelly : That's not pretty hard to understand. The metaverse will be an immersive internet, you won't stare at a screen anymore, you will be "in it". The websites you shop from will look like shops, you will stare at items in 3D etc. The same way it was obvious that internet would make cable tv obsolete 10 years ago, this will completely change the way we browse, maybe even watch TV as you could do it in the metaverse. Is it dangerous? Yes. Will there be a lot of capital misallocation? Certainly. Still, the stakes are high. Who will control the metaverse will gain control of almost everything, from media to social networks, online shopping, etc. No wonder if FB is investing heavily in it.

  • Johnny Thunders Harper lee : Why would I want to browse through a virtual store versus just typing what I want and boom. If I wanted to go to the mall... I would go to the mall. Doesn't sound an efficient use of time to me. This won't be big until the AR is graphically on par with real life in real time, which will be quite a while, decades.

  • Apollod Wed Johnny Thunders : You don’t make money getting in once it’s big. You make money by getting in before it’s big and sitting on it for a couple years….. It will also be different for everyone just like social media is. Some don’t go on, some share way to much and others use it for business.
I see big implications in the online school space and long distance business meetings to name a few. Not living life virtually, although I can see some people getting sucked in which is sad.

  • rppIg2As8t : research requires finding facts not reviewing what DA’s think ad nauseum; do your own research don’t count on others telling the truth.
