Dollar cost averaging
$Alibaba(BABA.US$ When entering a new position, I like to buy it slowly over a period of a year or longer. This reduces the impact of starting valuations and short term market movements on my long term returns. Alibaba is a perfect example of how dollar cost averaging can reduce volatility even if you think you're buying the dip on a heavily undervalued company.
Of course, this advice is relatively non-controversial and not very practical for people have already invested heavily in Alibaba, so I won't spend any more time on it.

PunditSage : Alibaba has to address three issues: 1. Fake Transactions; 2. Fake Comments; 3. Fake Products. Until these problems are solved, its accounting cannot be trusted. However, Alibaba is unwilling to deal with these problems.

Kilomanhiti : I like let my emotion reign loose, mix uppers and downers and raw dog a full thrust into the dip that’s coincidentally the 52 week low so when I sober up I know won’t remember that number cuz I’ll never see it again
