So much silly hate for $ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK.US)$ as usual and most commenters probably haven't even looked at their list of holdings. What exactly is wrong with the likes of
$Tesla (TSLA.US)$, $Block (SQ.US)$, $Shopify (SHOP.US)$, $Teladoc Health (TDOC.US)$, $Coinbase (COIN.US)$, $Twilio (TWLO.US)$, $Unity Software (U.US)$ etc? These companies are leaders in their field with billions in revenue while growing in a parabolic way. Many are already EPS positive.
Sure they may be out of favor this year, but ARKK's five year return is over 400% (beating $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ by 4x!). Is that not enough of a return for long term investors in her fund? Who exactly was expecting these stocks to go up in a straight line? I'd love these haters to post their 5 year return so we can compare performance ;)

Dogoro777 : ARKK has managed to lose 15% in a year where it was frankly hard to lose money - this year has been ridiculously bullish. Worse than that, ARKK's losses would be far more pronounced without TSLA as a cushion. Cathy has a knack for buying high and selling low, as evidenced by her recent debacle with Zillow. People are paying Cathy for the privilege of bleeding their money away and it is only going to get far, far worse when rates start really going up in earnest.
baby boomers Dogoro777 : Hey. I managed to lose money buying BABA. so its totally possible
hairless : Cathie (and the investors in ARKK) are making the same exact mistake. The fact that the companies in the fund are leaders in their field does NOT automatically make them a good investment. Even if I assume that these companies have disruptive technologies it does not mean I should invest in them. Way, way overvalued companies owned my momo and fomo investors
Leoi : Too expensive?
paladinsir : ARK is what type of fund? its a disruptive innovation ETF which means you invest in this if your time period is 5 years or more because it takes time to disrupt an industry. If you are taking about a period of one year or a few months, you are speculating on momentum and you will be better buying cylical stocks because the economy is recovering. Cathie has said many times, ARK is attracting the wrong type of investors who want quick returns because of media hype and thats not an outcome you get with disruptive innovations. Look at Tesla's price before 2019 and you will find its move within range before disuptions happens in 2020.
Ivanziom : ultimately winner will show and the nay sayers will kept quiet for a while then continue to be negative and loser
