Awesome technology, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what are the benefits of a driverless Uber.
Is the service any better for the passenger? Safer? Faster? More reliable?
Is it less less costly to operate a driverless vehicle? Lower labor cost , but higher capital investment. Liability is now on the operator.
Maybe more profitable for the operator, but more unemployment.

EverDust : I think it will have driver, it will cause less detour if auto pilot hopefully
EverDust : Will solve issues like speeding, drink driving if all vehicles are only allowed auto pilot.
Hamish Maclaren : Reduce the need for a driver and can drive for longer hours than humans can.
BLACKER-ALX : oh, man, don't even get me started on the unemployment caused by technology. In fact, a bunch of us are gonna go smash up some power looms tonight - wanna join us?
Milenko BLACKER-ALX : How quaint.
First of all, the looms are in Asia... but that is another story.
Second, the unemployed drivers will be happy not having to work, living off their stimmies and bennies.
Henriettalew BLACKER-ALX : go ahead - get started - nothing will happen.
phillycheese : Ur missing the whole point. Transportation cost and time consumption are one of the biggest daily costs of anyone, it even is one of the factors that drive real estate market. Now imagine again
hgar : safer for driver (human drivers cause millions of accidents) + 60% cheaper than manned taxi + less total taxis needed since they never need to rest (good for environment)
