$SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ TIPS are losers. Neither political party cares if you get made whole. Only market price and speculation make these things profitable. The government has to sell, this bill of goods.
Conversely, materials might be a good investment. It takes work to get materials and there is real value in the product although also dependent on market factors.
