$Tesla (TSLA.US)$ I think he is overselling the risk to push the team. While there is risk involved, there is no way Elon would allow SpaceX to go bankrupt. Even if SpaceX wasn't making money in other ways, he could finance them for decades himself.
I do wonder what the production crisis is? It seems like they were pumping them out like crazy earlier in the year. Maybe it's just supply chain issues? It seems like that isn't something they could really solve though.

stonks 30000 : not decades... more likely no more than a few years. staying operational on it's own is expensive.
alleybetwixt : Clustered main engines was tried by the Soviets and proved to be a bad idea. NASA used 5 very large engines and a different type for the second and third stages of their heavy lift rocket. The bigger question is, who will buy that capability? Existing Falcon Heavy has more than enough capability.
lunaplaza : Don't believe FUD like this, SpaceX is a profitable growing company which is revolutionizing the industry!
Katherinerce lunaplaza : FUD from Elon Musk himself?
show u my money Katherinerce : This is what happens when the company is led by an anti-social "genius." If you want to follow EM's line of thinking, why have humans at all--other than as consumers?
Minerva77 lunaplaza : Like the Spanish Inquisition revolutionized Christianity?
Main Force Minerva77 : it did though...
71085742 : If engine is a problem, surely the spaceX is bad. The key here is Elon saw the problems now and try to prevent it happens. Risk Warning if engineers are not working hard to fix it, spaceX has no hope. Elon cancelled his Thanksgiving weekend off and jumped on it. He wants those engineers do see the serious issues and work hard on it. That’s a very good way of showing responsibilities not just to investors, but his work. If you are not a workaholic, you don’t fit into Elon’s companies, Period!
