The chip shortage has been going on for more than a year now, but most of the semiconductor industry has only started reacting very recently as orders and revenue have been growing massively.
It looks like the chip shortage might soon be over and that the companies have started to adapt to the massive demand.
In my opinion, the market is presenting a lot of investment opportunities and the growth of semiconductor companies all around the world (like Intel, TSM, Qualcomm etc...) has only just started.
Any thoughts on this?
Dabria : Semiconductors are going through cycles of shortages followed by stock building followed by cancelations followed by shortages. A cycle is 2 - 5 years.
We are in the phase of stock building and maybe on the edge of cancelation. I know there are specific technologies and devices still in the shortage phase, but lets keep a global view.
All manufacturer of semiconductors are preparing for the cancelation phase by aligning ncnr orders with their customers to avoid stocks of customer specific devices which they cant get rid of in 3 to 12 months.
Anyway on a global view for next 10 years demand will increase, but i cant judge if this is prices in or no.
Evelynne : Chip shortage is a tricky thing, and it has severely affected other industries
