SpaceX could launch a starship into orbit early next year
(Approved by FCC)
The FEDERAL Communications Commission has granted Elon Musk's space company SpaceX a license to conduct orbital experimental demonstrations and recovery tests of starships in the first quarter of 2022.
SpaceX can conduct orbital test launches from its test facility in Boca Chica, Texas, any time between December 20, 2021 and March 1, 2022, according to the FCC.
However, SpaceX still has to wait for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to complete its environmental assessment before it can get the starship off the ground. The FAA previously announced that it would complete its review by Dec. 31, meaning SpaceX already has all the regulatory approvals it needs to launch its massive rockets into space.
