One more sexy TA for tonight before I sleep
Today's lesson: OBV (On Balance Volume)
Since the June 2021 meteoric rise to 72, the price has been steadily fluctuating in a range from 72 all the way down to the 20's as of today. In the graph below, the top part shows a falling price line but the OBV in the bottom part shows a bullish divergence in the opposite direction!
Now you're asking, what the hell is OBV? Its standard description is:
On Balance Volume (OBV) measures buying and selling pressure as a cumulative indicator that adds volume on up days and subtracts volume on down days. When the security closes higher than the previous close, all of the day’s volume is considered up-volume. When the security closes lower than the previous close, all of the day’s volume is considered down-volume.
Now that you get the main gist of it, what's happening here is that a massive OBV bullish divergence has been forming since July 2021 up to today, despite the falling price action.
What does that mean to us? Basically, this is saying that bulls are still in control of the price action from a macro perspective in terms of volume. The question is, how far back will the arrow on the bow be drawn and when will it finally spring?
