2021 in Review: My Investing Journey Forges Ahead

The Year I Joined Moo Moo

Another appropriate title for me personally is "2021 - The Year I Became an Amateur Trader". At the start of 2021, my stock portfolio consisted of pandemic plays like glove makers. When covid vaccines became available, I sold everything and bought $SIA (C6L.SG)$ , preparing to wait for borders to reopen. I was basically a value investor. At this time, I joined the moo moo community as I could not resist the temptation of a free Apple 🍎. I indicated that I invested in Singapore blue chips in my moo moo profile. The Apple 🍎 led me to spend my evenings in Singapore monitoring the US market, which is so much sexier than the Singapore Stock Exchange. When I saw the exciting price fluctuations in the US market, I was immediately hooked. It is so much more dynamic than the Singapore Stock Market. I took out a portion of my bank savings to trade US stocks. It is like ditching a safe and slow car (SGX) for a Ferrari (Nasdaq)! Since then, I spent my weekday evenings monitoring and trading stocks. My introduction to US stocks and decisions on which specific stocks to buy was aided by the many sociable and knowledgeable moo moo investors. Thus far, i have made a little bit of profit day trading. Most of my profits still come from buying blue chips for the long term and selling them when they are in the money. In gist, the difference between Jan and Dec 2021 is that I no longer just limit myself to Singapore blue chips, and has started to day trade actively in the US market. I have fallen head over heels for the sexy US market and and I thank moo moo for enabling me access to it.

  • Upncoming1841 OP : 2021 is the year I ditched plain, safe but boring SGX for a sexy, attractive but dangerous Nasdaq. 2021 marks the first time  I bought US and HK stocks, as well as options. I must say my first time in both markets were memorable! All thanks to Moo Moo for the introduction! The rest was up to me and I now can't imagine investing without US and HK stocks.
