$Tesla(TSLA.US)$ Tesla on Wednesday signed a battery graphite procurement agreement with Syrah Resources, an Australian supplier of graphite products, agreeing to purchase most of the battery graphite produced by Syrah Resources at a Plant in Louisiana to secure supplies of the key material.
Syrah will supply Tesla with graphite anode material for an initial four years, with an option to purchase additional quantities if its Louisiana plant is further expanded, Syrah said in a statement.
Syrah's Louisiana plant plans to process graphite from Mozambique to supply the fast-growing manfacturing of electric vehicles and lithium-ion batteries in the United States.
