$Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ $Amazon (AMZN.US)$ $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ While I do think the crypto world is driving some GPU computing, NVIDIA is also selling boat loads of GPU servers to AWS, Google, and Azure for data centers that support cloud computing. They are also creating GPU chips designed specifically to support the continued development of self-driving cars.
There are still a lot of use-cases where CPU computing is superior, but GPU computing powers a lot of AI applications built on NN architectures.
My personal thought is that while the consumer side of the business will ebb and flow with the crypto craze, it will pale in comparison to their other more profitable and stable business areas.
Of course, I'm biased by the fact that I do a lot of work in areas where GPU computing is integral to boosting speeds of most algorithms. Quantum computing may eventually displace certain applications, but by no means all of them.
I'm continuing to purchase AMD and NVIDIA with the expectation that I'll continue to hold them for very long time horizons (5+ years)
