Microsoft patent shows that they are developing a tri-fold folding screen phone

$Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ A new Microsoft patent reveals the prototype of the company's "multi-panel device" with a tri-fold design.

The patent was granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) last week and shows a sketch of a device with two hinges. When opened, you can see a larger three-part screen. When folded, the device can be used as a traditional smartphone, and it looks like a Surface Duo mold with a very wide shape.

Microsoft did not release any further specification details, nor did it release details on the hinge mechanism and how it works. It is rumored that other manufacturers such as Samsung are also developing their own tri-fold devices, and TCL even demonstrated concept devices at MWC last year.
