Try to be as independent as possible
Concentration is increasing prices and keeping them high. The ammunition duopoly and the "Great Ammunition Shortage" is just one example. Ammunition was .33c a round for most guns. Now you're looking at closer to almost a dollar a round. So it is much more expensive and it is much more difficult to find ammunition.
Like a lot of industries, there are cost pressures in ammunition; the price of raw materials, like brass, have gone up. Additionally, the State Department has blocked imports from Russia, adding to the pricing pressure. But the cost story is really a sideshow; the pricing increase is going almost entirely to profit. For Vista, margins skyrocketed in 2020, and continued to increase in 2021. They have the ammo market cornered. Or do like me. Learn to make your own from used shell casings. You can see in the picture that the casings have been fired before. You do get misfires but since you expect them you just eject and move on to the next round. 😎

McElroy : I make my own as well. I used to buy thousands of rounds and would spend all day shooting. Way too expensive now.
I always kept the casing though even before I started making my own.
Mcsnacks H TupackOP McElroy: Brass recycled was over 2.00lb. The government has made it so there are only 2 companies that are allowed to sell ammo in the US. That is not good, makes it real easy to shut down the supply at any time.
McElroy :
McElroy Mr Trecherous: bahaha funny thing is I took this right when the pandemic hit. I was going through my shit and making a go bag / loading mags etc.
the smaller bag was for mags and pistols.
then my rucksack with mre's, jerky, tent, etc.
Shotguns and hunting rifles were in truck. Too heavy so they wouldn't be on my person in a bind.
McElroy Mr Trecherous: Me and my wife's conversation when we first got together.
Mcsnacks H TupackOP McElroy: Mind was please don’t shoot me while I’m sleeping.
Frank Gilliland : demand dumbass
Mcsnacks H TupackOP Frank Gilliland: They are doing it on purpose. The demand can’t get that high for a margin to increase as much as theirs has.
Vista recently bought its competitor Remington out of bankruptcy, lowering the number of firms in the industry that could even build a factory and distribute ammunition effectively. And the limits on capacity were explicit. The head of ammunition for Vista, Jason R. Vanderbrink, explained that the “most important” reason for the Remington acquisition was “added capacity to Vista without increasing the overall market capacity."
They collude with their competition to keep capacity lower than it should be. Vista executives are ensuring that prices won’t come down. The prices will never come down. Dumbass!
Mr Trecherous Mcsnacks H TupackOP: guy has no original posts
Mcsnacks H TupackOP Mr Trecherous: So it’s a bot insulting me?
