Think long term

Heard a lot of short term players saying " today I made the right call and made $100, last montb I bought xxx stock and it ran up 20%"
I bought xxx stock, why is it going?
*down?

Thousands of traders and investors here are always asking. Good time to go in? Has it bottomed? Should we hold or sell or buy?

Many are very short term buyers. How long is longterm buying?
Personally, I hold stocks for Years at times. I do not time markets, its ridiculous and very short term. Some players comes to me and said I lost 30% already, should I let go? I asked them... When did you buy,?
They replied.... 2 weeks ago....
My response is
....why did you buy in the first place if u don't trust the company will make it happen10 years down the road.

I may not have expressed this xorrectly. But nowadays people are taking stocks as a quick way to get rich instead of finding a good company they like and take a long term(many years) view. We used to buy stock with good long term( many years) potential and average in every half yearly or even every year. Questions we used to ask are, any dividends, any cash flow, any debts?

Doing the old ways have several benefits
1)u don't have to time the market
2) you don't have to watch the stock everyday
3) u don't have to care being influenced by social media

you are buying the company, and company don't make you rich in a few months or days. Be confident in what you see 10 years down the road. If you see full of EV in the next 10 years, buy EV, if you see no EV in the next 10 years, don't touch

My point is take a longterm (many years) view. Don't speculate the market, dun time the market, is this the bottom price to go in? Its tiring and basically gambling
