$Tesla(TSLA.US$ falling in response to 2 news items.
Its electric Cybertruck which was first unveiled in 2019 with a promise of production by 2021, missed that deadline. Its availability for purchase in 2022 is also in doubt. TheVerge.com reported "reference to a 2022 production schedule [for Cybertruck] was scrubbed from Tesla's website last week. Instead, the site now simply says that "you would be able to complete your configuration as production nears" -- with no indication of how near to production Cybertruck actually is.
A 19-year-old German "IT specialist " claimed he has successfully hacked into "25 Tesla vehicles across 13 countries" and had been able to "turn on their radios", "flash their headlights and even start their engines and even begin keyless driving" remotely. He hacking success was not tied to any vulnerability but due to some precaution that the car owners apparently failed to follow.
The longer Tesla takes to introduce Cybertruck, the more its rivals will grab its market share and the more Tesla will lose pre-orders for Cybertruck. It may find itself shut out of the electric truck market.
