Yes, there’s a difference. Rightfully, stocks investing should not be like gambling.
When we buy Stocks, we are not buying lottery tickets in the hope of striking. Behind every stock, there is a company which owns the stock. If the company does well, the stock price should likewise does well and vice versa.
However, if one just buy stocks merely from some heresay or recommendations from friends or simply, everyone is buying it, then, that’s not investing but gambling in the hope that they have picked the right stock (or 4D/lottery numbers) and will make lots of money. There’s no research and understanding on what they are buying. It’s pure speculation and hence, gambling.
