I think $Meta Platforms (FB.US)$ is mostly just trying to get ahead of the curve before it turns into something more mainstream. Right now I don’t see the appeal or know anyone even thinking about using it, VR headsets just aren’t popular enough.

I have no doubts it will eventually be a thing though. I think it will start with useful technology such as augmented VR which could be useful for navigation, work, interior design, video games, etc.
