I give an example. Say initially he bought 10 grab shares at 7 dollars. His cost per share is 7 dollars.
When grab fell to 5 dollars, he decided to sell 9 shares to cut losses. He sold 9 shares at a loss of 2 dollars per share, hence total loss is 18 dollars. Futu will then add this 18 dollars loss to the cost price of the remaining shares unsold, divided by number of shares. Since he has 1 share not sold, which cost 7 dollars, his cost per share is now (18 + 7) / 1, so now his diluted cost per share is 25 dollars.
For this case, since his average cost price is 1458 dollars when grab is 6 dollars at that time, assuming that he only has 1 share of grab unsold, it means he sold at a loss of 1452 dollars per share.
However note that this is on a per share basis. So if he has 2 shares, on average he has a loss of 1452 dollars per share, meaning his actual loss is 2904 dollars (1452 x 2).
Since we don't know how many shares he is holding, we cannot determine what is the total loss. We only know what is the average loss per share he is holding, which is 1452.
jagger_ : wait what ?you bought at 1,458?
dezelous : most likely he sell off most of his shares thts y nw look like tis
Yalole jagger_ : Likely due to selling off at losses, which moomoo will accumulate with the cost price
Iwanttolive Yalole : Yes that’s correct
GameOverBro Yalole : don't get it, so what is his actual loss? can't be 99 percent right?
