Rise of Female Investors - Route to Inclusivity in the Investment World
There are many gender stereotypes in this world. Given the existing disparity in gender salary gap and to some extent, financial knowledge, I’m not surprised if female investors are being given labels. But as the society progresses, I think it’s time for us to remove some of these stereotypes.
In the past, many successful or iconic investors are usually males, but it’s actually equally inspiring when female investors gain attentions these days, such as Cathie Wood ( $ARK Innovation ETF(ARKK.US$), Nancy Zevenbergen and even Nancy Pelosi. I myself studied both male and female investors’ portfolios, and I love some of their picks. In fact I’m intrigued by Nancy Pelosi’s investments.
Warren Buffet - $Apple(AAPL.US$ $Snowflake(SNOW.US$
Nancy Pelosi - $Tesla(TSLA.US$ $Disney(DIS.US$ $Salesforce(CRM.US$ $Alphabet-A(GOOGL.US$ $Roblox(RBLX.US$ $Alphabet-C(GOOG.US$
I also wish to highlight that, if one were to dive in deeper, you will realise some of the stereotypes and labels go beyond gender investment biases.
For instance, some will label female investors as risk adverse, too afraid to invest, lack the knowledge to trade, cannot manage emotions etc. But there are male investors who fit into these categories too. These traits or labels should therefore be description of the types of investor, and not solely be associated with genders.
More importantly, the stock market is not gender-biased, it doesn’t care whether you’re a male or female. Thus, we should not see investing as a men vs women game. We all should turn the focus towards sharing knowledge, exchanging perspectives and bringing the best out of each other!
