My Grandma (RIP)

My grandmother was the only person in my life, in my family, who ever invested in stocks. Her name was Avis and she was strict Irish Catholic woman who never drank or smoked a day in her life. She was highly intelligent and had wisdom to share every time I talked with her.

Avis was investing long before I was even born. She set up two savings accounts, one for me and one for my sister. The money in the accounts she put into stocks and ETFs. She started one in 1990, and the other in 1991, with each account having about 1,000 dollars connected to investments.

By the time I was ready for college, the account she had set up for me had nearly 12,000 dollars in it. I'm not sure what exactly she invested in specifically as I did not get interested in the stock market until after she past away, long after I had used my savings from her to buy a car and pay for some college. I wish I had known more about stocks before she passed away so I could have asked for her insights into the market.

If it weren't for my Irish grandmother, Avis, I do not know where I would be today. She was always a rock, and the glue that kept my extended family together. I cannot describe the amount of admiration I have for her. She will have been gone from this Earth three years come December. Thank you Grandma for everything you did for me.

Thank you Moomoo for letting me share.
