Will companies that are suspending business in Russia take a hit?
I can assume that there will be some loss of income. But would they raise prices in other areas to make up for the loss? My thought is that companies will wait a bit, see the climate, and if they won't be resuming business there anytime soon, which seems likely, they'll raise prices elsewhere. So an initial dip, with eventual rise, and of course prices won't come back down, because "profits before people," so then sales and profit will eventually be higher than recently.
That is if the war doesn't grow and tanks everything.
Curious if anybody has any similar information about what the market did in times of conflict with western countries. And what ideas anybody has. $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ $Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US)$ $Intel (INTC.US)$ $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ $Meta Platforms (FB.US)$ $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$

SVTrade : No company will stop their business or volunteer to Loss
Either they don’t have a big market to Loss and use this as opportunity to get Marketing at Free of cost
Any company that appears in Russia Ukraine class will be noted worldwide and this gives a big Marketing
or
They may forced by the Biden admin to do so, to propaganda
Upncoming1841 : All profit seeking companies will raise prices if it makes economic sense to do so.
jahmaycan : Even in times of uncertainties, like now, there are stocks doing well. Search out those stocks, them invest and curb speculations
Shortcake117 : I heard Shell was continuing to do business with Russia and made up my mind never to gas up at Shell again, if I can help it. Then I told all my friends. Today I heard Shell reconsidered and is pulling out. But it's too late in my mind. The damage is done.
Shame on Shell and other companies like it. I get the fiduciary duty to make shareholders profit. But the only power we have as little people out here is to put our money where are morals are. That's the beauty of a free economy. If I don't like the ethos of a company, I'm free to weigh the pros and cons and let my money do the talking. It is possible to make a profit and not sell out. They need us more than we need them. It's the principle of least interest, the side that cares the least, always has the most control.
Joseph Duggan : It may not seem like it but Russia has all the cards
Tiizen Dorsey : New to this, I don’t know what I’m doing lol
Ampsteve : Uftwy, I think you are absolutely right.
The prices of things will increase due their loss of business in Russia and Ukraine. And with that, even if the war stops. The prices don't go down.
The only way for prices to go down is when there are competitions in the market. But with that said, when the prices go up, usually same sector prices will rise with it.
UFTWY OP Ampsteve : good analysis
UFTWY OP Tiizen Dorsey :
UFTWY OP jahmaycan : yeah
