The main characteristic of the MACD indicator is its high stability, which can provide relatively stable buy and sell signals over a longer period of time. Therefore, medium to long-term traders can refer to the MACD indicator for specific operations. The biggest disadvantage of the MACD indicator is that its signals are too slow. The MACD indicator on the daily chart is not suitable for short-term trading.
I have a relatively simple understanding of the MACD indicator.
This time, I used $Ford Motor (F.US)$ as a reference:
Candlestick charts between the 0 line represent trading volume.
2. When the two moving averages cross upward and are above the zero axis, it is a buy signal. (Green boxes in the chart)
3.When the two moving averages cross downward and are below the zero axis, it is a sell signal. (Red boxes in the chart)
4. When the stock price rises in waves, but the MACD moving average and the trading volume do not rise synchronously, but instead decrease in waves, forming a bearish divergence with the stock price trend, indicating the end of the trend and the impending price decline. In this case, it is recommended not to chase the rising price anymore. (In the chart, the second half of the green box shows the stock price rising, while the MACD moving average starts to diverge downward. Although there is trading volume support in the end, the stock price ultimately starts to decline.)
