Google acquires Raxium to develop AR, MR products

$Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$ $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ has agreed to acquire Raxium, a startup developing light-emitting diodes for AR and MR devices. The acquisition could be a sign that Google wants to own more of the device components it makes.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, and a representative for Google did not respond to a request for comment.
It is reported that two of Google's biggest competitors, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ and $Meta Platforms (FB.US)$ , are developing their own AR headsets. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Apple is already working on its second-generation AR headset, which could be released in 2024.
