Depends on “soon”
It all depends on what is meant by “soon”. Will this be another attempt at occupation like the Soviet move into Afghanistan in the 1980s? No. But, considering the Ukrainians are not just going to cave and give in to Russian demands of a demilitarized puppet state of Russia, giving up claims to Crimea and the other “Russian influenced” areas, not a Ukrainian government change, this will drag on for several months.
Remember this axiom: if the Russians stop fighting, there will peace. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, there will be no Ukraine. The Ukrainians will not give up their country that easy.
