The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ slashed an advance of 60 points to 14 points or 0.19 per cent.

The ASX tech sector climbed 3.1 per cent to its highest since mid-January. Afterpay parent $Block Inc(SQ2.AU)$ rose 6.22 per cent, $Altium Ltd(ALU.AU)$ 3.21 per cent and $Xero Ltd(XRO.AU)$ 4.49 per cent. $Appen Ltd(APX.AU)$ gained 2.03 per cent, $WiseTech Global Ltd(WTC.AU)$ 2.56 per cent and $Tyro Payments Ltd(TYR.AU)$ 1.49 per cent.

The energy sector hit a pandemic-era high after the threat of new sanctions against Russia lifted energy prices.
