I am using a little less charcoal in my smoker. Also, I used to stock up on non-local foods at the W-Mart near my house about once a month (bad). Now, I now drive to my CSA to get some of my veggies, the farmers market to get other veggies the CSA didn't have, and my meats from an old school country store a half hour South of my home, and a small butcher shop about an hour North of my house. The quality of the local meats and veggies is much better than what I was getting from the W-Mart that has to ship most of its products from China, Mexico and all over the country in bulk. To avoid having to make so many trips (bad for the environment) I try to buy as much as I can at those local places when I go, so I got a bigger vehicle to haul the stuff back home. I'm glad COVID went away, it was sad seeing all those masks laying all over the parking lots, etc. I never saw many plastic straws in the parking lots, but those masks and gloves were everywhere. I wanted to get some wind generators at my house but the prices have gone up due to the cost of oil used to produce the wind generators & blades. I might go solar but would need a lot of lead acid batteries because the lithium batteries are just too expensive at this time - maybe it's because of all the diesel fuel used for the machinery to mine and refine it? I used to turn off the HVAC when I wasn't home but started getting mold problems from the humidity so I got a few dehumidifiers. Unfortunately they use a lot of electricity. Just trying to do my part.
